Massage goals and limitations
Massage works with muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Benefits can include relaxation, reduced stress and relief from tension, soreness and pain. WKBM therapists do not diagnose diseases or musculoskeletal conditions, prescribe medicines or medical treatments, or perform skeletal adjustments. Massage does not replace medical examination or treatment.
Temporary soreness or superficial bruising can occur, and some conditions make massage unsuitable. Please tell us about your medical conditions, medication and any changes in your health. We may ask you to seek medical advice before treatment.
Before your appointment
Complete and return your personal information form before attending. Please shower beforehand and avoid wearing clothing that could be marked by massage oil. Do not attend under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. We clean the treatment space between clients and use fresh covers and towels.
Your treatment and consent
We will discuss your goals, explain the proposed treatment and agree which areas of your body will be treated before we begin. We will check your comfort and consent throughout the appointment. You can ask questions, decline any technique or area, request a change in pressure, or pause or stop treatment at any time.
You will have privacy to undress and dress, with your therapist leaving the room or turning away as you prefer. Only the agreed treatment area will be uncovered. Tell us about any preferences or boundaries so we can respect them.
After treatment, we will check that you feel ready to get up, offer assistance if needed and discuss practical aftercare.
Payment and appointments for minors
See our appointment prices and booking options. Payment is by cash or bank transfer on the day or within 24 hours; bank details are provided separately. An adult guardian must remain present throughout appointments for minors and dependants.
Professional standards and privacy
You can expect a clean, private and safe environment and respectful, professional treatment. Sexual behaviour or harassment may result in the appointment ending and further service being declined. We handle your information as described in our privacy policy.
Cancellations
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice incur a charge of 50% of the appointment fee. Missed appointments without notice are charged in full.
If you develop symptoms of a contagious illness, contact us before attending so we can discuss rearranging your appointment.
